Adele and I had chatted about what would make the perfect photo shoot if she could create anything. We came up with a Goddess Maternity shoot that was one with nature, similar to images she had on her wall as a child. Now she would get to be that beautiful Mother Goddess image herself. We started with one main concept, and as I edited a few images, slightly different versions unfolded from the set, but still within the Motherhood Goddess creation.
First we picked an abundance of moss from the gardens to make a moss bed, along with vines, flowers and sticks to put it all together in the studio. I really wanted some kind of nature crown, so KatyJane helped me glue sticks and flowers together to create Adele's nature crown, turning her into the Mother Of The Monarch Butterflies - a concept that actually came to me a bit after the shoot as my son and I were in the gardens. We found all these little caterpillars hanging about, so I decided to include them in the final image.
First Adele had her makeup and hair done, then we got to delicately gluing natural vines to her body. The photo shoot doesn’t take all that long once we have a concept in mind, but prepping and special effects does take a significant amount of time. But I feel the final images are worth the effort.
The 2nd image, which is a Goddess Fairy in the garden, was a continuation of our shoot with her laying in the massive bed of moss that filled up a big portion of the studio. We had a great time throwing it around everywhere. In post-production I softly blended her in a bit more into the environment, along with adding real wings. I love the wings, as my son found them laying about thinking I could use them. I have to admit collecting pretty wings we find in the gardens, which make perfect fairy wings.
Everything is hand created from start to finish of the images created as one-of-a-kind art pieces.
The 3rd image came about a few months later as I wanted her to feel like she was in a safe bubble of pregnancy in the garden. Each image tells a slightly different story as they just unfold...
